Chemical Properties
radioactive solid; α-emitter; resistivity (0°C) 44 μohm· cm; chemical behavior resembles Te, Bi; coexists with α-form over temp range 18°C–54°C; electronegativity 1.76 [MER06] [COT88]
History
This radioactive metal was also known as radium-F. The name of Polonium derives from “Poland”, the native country of Marie Sklodowska Curie. It was discovered by Marie Curie (Paris, France) in 1898, from its radioactivity. It was independently found by the German chemist Willy Marckwald in 1902 and called radiotellurium. The longest halflife associated with this unstable element is 102 year 209Po.
Definition

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7440-08-6 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,4,4 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7440-08:
(6*7)+(5*4)+(4*4)+(3*0)+(2*0)+(1*8)=86
86 % 10 = 6
So 7440-08-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
