Propane, 1,1,2,3,3-pentafluoro-1,3-dimethoxy, also known as HFC-245da, is a fluorinated gas used as a refrigerant in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It is a colorless, odorless gas that is non-toxic and non-flammable. HFC-245da has a low global warming potential and ozone depletion potential, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to other refrigerants. It is also used as a blowing agent in the production of foam insulation and as a propellant in aerosol products. However, HFC-245da is a potent greenhouse gas and its production and use are regulated under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment to mitigate its impact on climate change.
