The reaction of alkylhydrazines with methyl formate leads to mixtures of 1,1- and 1,2-formylhydrazines, and the proportion of the latter increase if the alkyl substituent is branched.The 1-formyl-1-alkylhydrazines were characterized by their alkylidene derivatives.The Z,E isomerism in the obtained hydrazides and hydrazones was studied by NMR spectroscopy.The reaction of 1-formyl-2-isopropylhydrazine with acetaldehyde leads to the formation of 1-formyl-2-isopropyl-3-methyl-5-hydroxypyrazolidene, the structure of which was proved by spectral and chemical methods.
