7758-87-4 Usage
Description
Calcium phosphate is the calcium salt of phosphoric acid, existing in several forms, including monobasic, dibasic, and tribasic forms. It is a white amorphous powder with a refractive index of 1.63, a density of 3.14 g/cm3, and melts at 1,670°C. It is insoluble in water and has a solubility product constant (KSP) of 1.0x10^-25. Calcium phosphate occurs abundantly in nature and is the principal mineral for the production of phosphate fertilizers and a range of phosphorus compounds.
Uses
Used in Food Industry:
Calcium phosphate is used as a leavening agent, acidulant, dough conditioner, and mineral supplement in the food industry. It is also used as an anticaking agent in table salt and dry vinegar, a source of calcium and phosphorus in cereals and desserts, a bleaching agent in flour and lard, and a stabilizer to prevent undesirable coloring and improve stability for frying.
Used in Fertilizer Industry:
Calcium phosphate is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, providing essential nutrients for plant growth.
Used in Chemical Industry:
It is used in the production of H3PO4 and P compounds, as well as in the clarification of sugar syrups.
Used in Ceramics and Glass Industry:
Calcium phosphate is used in the manufacture of milk-glass, polishing and dental powders, porcelains, and pottery. It is also used in enameling.
Used in Animal Feed Industry:
It serves as a noncaking agent and a nutrient supplement in cattle food.
Used in Textile Industry:
It is used as a mordant in dyeing textiles and as a buffer to control pH.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
β-tri-Calcium phosphate, a type of calcium-phosphate-based ceramic, is involved in the preparation of a new biosynthetic material with morphogenetic activity, used as a bone implant. Calcium phosphates are the largest group of artificial bone graft substitutes due to their close resemblance to the mineral components of bone.
Used in Environmental Applications:
Calcium phosphate can be used as a countermeasure for exposure to strontium and radium radionuclides. Upon oral uptake, it competes for and blocks the absorption of radium (Ra-226) and strontium (Sr-90) in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
Flammability and Explosibility
Nonflammable
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 7758-87-4 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,7,5 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7758-87:
(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*5)+(3*8)+(2*8)+(1*7)=144
144 % 10 = 4
So 7758-87-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
