7784-37-4 Usage

Description

Mercuric Arsenate is a toxic yellow powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in hydrochloric acid. It is known to be a strong irritant and poses significant health risks when ingested, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled.

Uses

Used in Paint Industry:
Mercuric Arsenate is used as an additive in the production of waterproof paints for its ability to enhance the paint's water-resistant properties.
Used in Marine Industry:
In the marine industry, Mercuric Arsenate is used as an additive in antifouling paints to prevent the growth of marine organisms on the submerged parts of ships and other underwater structures, thus reducing drag and improving fuel efficiency.
Please note that due to the toxic nature of Mercuric Arsenate, its use has been restricted or banned in many countries, and safer alternatives are being developed and used for similar applications.

Air & Water Reactions

Insoluble in water.

Reactivity Profile

MERCURIC ARSENATE is incompatible with the following: Acetylene, ammonia, chlorine dioxide, azides, calcium (amalgam formation), sodium carbide, lithium, rubidium, copper .

Health Hazard

Highly toxic, may be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.

Fire Hazard

Non-combustible, substance itself does not burn but may decompose upon heating to produce corrosive and/or toxic fumes. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways.

Safety Profile

Confirmed human carcinogen. A poison. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Hg and As. See also MERCURY and ARSENIC COMPOUNDS.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 7784-37-4 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 7,7,8 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 7784-37:
(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*8)+(3*4)+(2*3)+(1*7)=134
134 % 10 = 4
So 7784-37-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
