Reviews of analytical methods used for the determination of phenothiazine derivatives (PD) have been presented by Blazek [1-3] and show that the literature on the extractive spectrophotometric determination of PD is very scanty though methods are well suited for the determination of PD in pharmaceutical preparations and body fluids. This paper deals with the application of picric acid (PA) and flavianic acid (FA) to the extractive spectrophotometric determination of thioproperazine (TPR). The application is based on the ability of these acids to precipitate TPR in the form of coloured and well crystallized compounds, quantitatively extractable with benzene.
