Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 88578-92-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,8,5,7 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 88578-92:
(7*8)+(6*8)+(5*5)+(4*7)+(3*8)+(2*9)+(1*2)=201
201 % 10 = 1
So 88578-92-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 2-trifluoromethyl-5-fluorobenzal chloride and 2-trifluoromethyl-4-fluorobenzal chloride useful as a medicinal or an agrochemical intermediate, etc., and a method for producing them. SOLUTION: The 2-trifluoromethyl-5-fluorobenzal chloride is obtained by chlorinating 3,4-dimethylfluorobenzene with chlorine (Cl2) to obtain an isomer mixture (chlorination reaction mixture) of 2-trichloromethyl-5-fluorobenzal chloride and 2-trichloromethyl-4-fluorobenzal chloride, bringing the obtained isomer mixture in contact with hydrogen fluoride (HF) to obtain the fluorination reaction mixture, distilling the fluorination reaction mixture to be able to isolate 2-trifluoromethyl-5-fluorobenzal chloride. On the one hand, by reacting the distillation residue with HF under a condition for accelerating the reaction or for a longer period, 2-trifluoromethyl-4-fluorobenzal chloride is obtained.
