Pentacarbonyl complexes of chromium(0) (1a), molybdenum(0) (1b), and tungsten(0) (1c) react with chloroauric acid to give chlorogold(I) (2) and trichlorogold(III) (3), while the reaction of 1c with bromoauric acid yields only bromogold(I) (4).Tribromogold(III) (5) is obtained either from 4 by oxidative addition of bromine or from 3 by halogene substitution with boron tribromide. triiodogold(III) (6) is prepared by further halogene substitution from 5 with boron triiodide; it is reduced with sodium thiosulfate to give iodogold(I) (7).
