General Description
Custirsen, also known by its developmental code name of OGX-011, is a synthetic antisense oligonucleotide designed to target the production of clusterin, a protein involved in cancer cell survival and treatment resistance. By inhibiting the expression of clusterin, custirsen aims to enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate its potential in treating various types of cancer, including prostate, lung, and breast cancer, with mixed results.
