Usage

Description

Sandarac, also known as Tetraclinis articulata, is a small conifer native to the mountains of Morocco and Algeria. It is a hardy tree that grows up to 12 to 15 meters tall and has fragrant, durable wood that is often used in construction. The tree produces a natural oleoresin that exudes from incisions made on the trunk and branches, solidifying into brittle, faintly aromatic, yellow grains or tears. Sandarac oil, obtained through steam distillation of the resin, is a colorless to pale-yellow liquid with a fresh, balsamic odor reminiscent of turpentine.
