Usage

General Description

AST-120 is a spherical carbon adsorbent developed to reduce the accumulation of uremic toxins such as indoxyl sulfate and p-cresol sulfate in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Made from a mixture of activated carbon and binding agents, AST-120 works by absorbing and removing uremic toxins from the body, thereby reducing the risk of further kidney damage and complications associated with CKD. It has been shown to be effective in slowing the progression of CKD and improving patient outcomes when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with impaired kidney function.
