The synthesis and principal properties of p-phenoxy-phenylthioglycolic and p-phenoxy-phenylsulfinylacetic acids are described. The racemic sulfoxide was resolved by fractional crystallization of its diastereomeric salts with optically active base. The configurations of the enantiomers were elucidated.Optical rotatory dispersion of the dextrorotatory enantiomer its p-bromo- and p-phenyl-phenacyl esters and amide in the region 300 a, Δ S (excit.), Δ H(excit.)) of racemization of dextrorotatory p-phenoxy-phenylsulfinylacetic acid were determined by the classical kinetic methods.
