2,3-Dihydro-5H-thiadiazoloquinazolin-2,5-dione (6) or its 7-methyl derivative has been synthesized by two new convenient routes.In the first approach ethyl 2-(2-aminobenzoyl)hydrazinecarboxylate (3) is used as the starting compound.In the second approach condensation of 3-amino-2-mercaptoquinazolin-4(3H)-one (8) with ethyl chloroformate in the presence of NaOH results in 2-carbethoxy derivative (10) which undergoes cyclisation in refluxing ethyl alcohol to afford 6.The structures have been confirmed on the basis of IR, PMR and analytical data.
