Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 56614-57-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,6,6,1 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 56614-57:
(7*5)+(6*6)+(5*6)+(4*1)+(3*4)+(2*5)+(1*7)=134
134 % 10 = 4
So 56614-57-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Complexes of carbohydrates with metal cations. XIX* the effect of the size of the cation and of the inter-oxygen distances
Angyal, Stephen J.
, p. 567 - 570 (2007/10/03)
The variation of the strength of complex formation of small polyols with cations has been examined along the series of lanthanides. The strength depends on the ionic size of the cation and on the shape and flexibility of the complexing molecule. In many cases a maximum is found around the middle of the lanthanide series. Some compounds which do not form complexes with cations separate satisfactorily on cation-exchange resin columns. More frequent use of such columns is advocated. CSIRO 2000.
