616-31-9 Usage

General Description

Pentane-3-thiol is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C5H12S. It is a colorless liquid with a foul, garlic-like odor, and is commonly used in organic synthesis, such as in the preparation of mercaptans. Pentane-3-thiol is also used as a reagent in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and flavoring compounds. Its strong odor makes it useful as a warning odorant in natural gas, which helps detect leaks, and it is also used to impart an odor to natural gas and propane so that leaks can be quickly detected. Additionally, it can also be found in trace amounts in some food products, beverages, and natural sources, such as garlic and onions. Overall, pentane-3-thiol has a variety of uses in different industries due to its unique odor and chemical properties.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 616-31-9 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 6,1 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 616-31:
(5*6)+(4*1)+(3*6)+(2*3)+(1*1)=59
59 % 10 = 9
So 616-31-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Compounds of the disclosure have activity as dual modulators of Janus kinase (JAK), alone, or in combination with one or more of an additional mechanism, including a tyrosine kinase, such as TrkA or Syk, and PDE4, and are useful in the in the treatment or control of inflammation, auto-immune diseases, cancer, and other disorders and indications where modulation of JAK would be desirable. Also described herein are methods of treating inflammation, auto-immune diseases, cancer, and other conditions susceptible to inhibition of JAK and PDE4 by administering a compound herein described.

Reactions of 2-(α-Haloalkyl)thiiranes with nucleophilic reagents: V.* Reactions of 2-(α-chloroalkyl)thiiranes with organolithium compounds

Tomashevskii,Sokolov,Potekhin

experimental part, p. 1822 - 1825 (2011/04/17)

2-(α-Haloalkyl)thiiranes reacted with methyl-, butyl-, and phenyllithium to give the corresponding allyl sulfides. The reactions of diastereoisomeric erythro-and threo-2-(1-chloroethyl)thiiranes with phenyllithium were stereospecific, and they afforded (E)-and (Z)-1-phenylsulfanylbut-2-enes, respectively. 3-Chloromethyl-2,2- dimethylthiirane and phenyllithium gave rise to a mixture of 3-methyl-3-phenylsulfanylbut-1-ene and 3-methyl-1-phenylsulfanylbut-2-ene. The reactions of 2-chloromethylthiiranes with phenyllithium and methyllithium in the presence of a catalytic amount of copper(I) iodide (10 mol %) led to the formation of substituted thiiranes as the major products. Mechanisms of the observed transformations are discussed. Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2010.
