Uses of 1,2-Ethanedione,1,2-bis(3-methoxyphenyl)-: it can be used to produce 2,3-bis-(3-methoxy-phenyl)-1,4-diaza-spiro[4.5]deca-1,3-diene by heating. It will need reagent NH₄OAc, AcOH with reaction time of 1 hour. The yield is about 97%.
