Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by chloromethyl-oxirane and 2-methyl-phenol. This reaction will need reagent n-Bu₄NOSO₂OCH₂CHOHCH₃, K₂CO₃. The reaction time is 90 min with reaction temperature of 75 - 80 °C. The yield is about 91%.

Uses of 2-[(2-Methylphenoxy)methyl]oxirane: it can be used to produce 1-o-tolyloxy-3-(3-vinyloxy-phenylamino)-propan-2-ol at temperature of 115 °C. The reaction time is 5 hours. The yield is about 69.2%.
