Ammonium chlorate (CAS NO.10192-29-7) is used as chemicals, explosives and oxidant.
Ammonium chlorate is obtained by precipitating barium, strontium or calcium chlorates with ammonium carbonate, or by neutralizing chloric acid with either ammonia or ammonium carbonate or ammonium sulfate, producing the respective carbonate or sulfate precipitate and an ammonium chlorate solution.
A powerful oxidizer. Moderately flammable due to spontaneous chemical reaction. Explosion hazard due to shock, chemical reaction, or exposure to heat. A storage hazard; it may explode at room temperature. Explodes when heated to 100°C. When contaminated it is very sensitive. Solution in water may explode if heated or dried. When heated to decomposition it emits highly toxic fumes of Cl− and NOx. Incompatible with reducing materials; BrF3; BrF5.
DOT Classification: Forbidden
Ammonium chlorate (CAS NO.10192-29-7) is also named as Chloric acid, ammonium salt ; Ammonium chlorate [Forbidden] . It is colorless or white crystal with pungent odor. Ammonium chlorate is a very unstable oxidizer and will decompose, sometimes violently, at room temperature. Ammonium chlorate is soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. Ammonium chlorate is moderate toxic. It is flammable by organic matter, reducing agents, sulfur, phosphorus and other combustibles. It will produce toxic nitrogen oxide and chloride smoke when buring. So the storage environment should be ventilate, low-temperature and dry. Keep Ammonium chlorate (CAS NO.10192-29-7) separate from organic matter, reducing agents, sulfur, phosphorus and other combustibles.
