It is a white, granular or crystalline solid, highly soluble in water producing an alkaline solution. Most often found in white powder form, it can also be called trisodium orthophosphate or just plain sodium phosphate. Trisodium phosphate is made from phosphoric acid and soda ash, but caustic soda is necessary to substitute the third hydrogen of the phosphoric acid.
Uses of Trisodium phosphate: Trisodium phosphate can be used as a water softening agent, cleaning agent in electroplating, color fixer in fabric dyeing and flux in enamel ware manufacturing and so on.
