A straightforward route: The combination of a palladium catalyst and triethylborane promotes the amphiphilic (nucleophilic-electrophilic) allylation of aldimines, prepared in situ from a wide variety of aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes and amines, with commercially available 2-methylenepropane-1,3-diols to provide pyrrolidines (see scheme).
