Description

2',4',5',7'-tetrachloro-6-carboxy-4,7-dichlorofluorescein dipivalate, commonly referred to as 6-HEX, is an amino-conjugatable fluorescent probe that is widely utilized in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry. It is particularly known for its application in nucleic acid sequencing and related research, where it serves as a valuable tool for visualizing and analyzing the structure and function of nucleic acids. The unique chemical properties of 6-HEX, including its ability to be conjugated to amino groups and its inherent fluorescence, make it a versatile and reliable probe for various scientific applications.

Uses

Used in Nucleic Acid Sequencing:
6-HEX is used as a fluorescent probe for nucleic acid sequencing, allowing researchers to identify and analyze the order of nucleotides in a DNA or RNA molecule. Its fluorescence property enables the detection and quantification of specific nucleic acid sequences, which is crucial for understanding genetic information and diagnosing genetic disorders.
Used in Labeling Peptides and Oligonucleotides:
6-HEX is also employed as a labeling agent for peptides and oligonucleotides, which are short chains of amino acids and nucleotides, respectively. By conjugating 6-HEX to these biomolecules, researchers can track their interactions, localization, and distribution within biological systems. This labeling technique is particularly useful in studying protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions, as well as in the development of targeted drug delivery systems.
Used in Research and Diagnostic Applications:
6-HEX is used as a research and diagnostic tool in various scientific and medical fields, including molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology. Its ability to label and visualize specific biomolecules makes it an indispensable tool for studying cellular processes, identifying disease markers, and developing novel therapeutic strategies.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1166837-63-3 includes 10 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 7 digits, 1,1,6,6,8,3 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1166837-63:
(9*1)+(8*1)+(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*8)+(4*3)+(3*7)+(2*6)+(1*3)=183
183 % 10 = 3
So 1166837-63-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis, spectroscopic properties, and biological applications of eight novel chlorinated fluorescent proteins-labeling probes

Wu, Xianglong,Tian, Min,Fan, Wutu,Pan, Yalei,Zhai, Yuankun,Niu, Yinbo,Li, Chenrui,Lu, Tingli,Mei, Qibing

, p. 775 - 786 (2014/07/22)

Eight novel chlorinated fluorescent proteins-labeling probes with a linker and reactive group were prepared in 7 steps by the reaction of chlorinated resorcinols with 3, 6-dichloro-4-carboxyphthalic anhydride in the presence of methanesulfonic acid. Structures of target compounds and intermediates were determined via IR, MS, 1H NMR and element analysis. The spectral properties of the chlorinated fluoresceins were studied. These fluorescent probes showed absorbance peaks at 508-536 nm and fluorescence peaks at 524-550 nm. It was found that they have absorption and emission maxima at long wavelengths and high fluorescence quantum yields. Emission spectra of chlorinated fluoresceins shifted towards long wavelength with increase in chlorine. The probes were used for fluorescence imaging of cells in order to investigate whether they can conjugate to cells. The fluorescence imaging of living cells showed that they were localized in cell nucleus. However, they were localized in cytosol of chemically fixed cells. These probes will be useful reagents for the preparation of stable fluorescent conjugates.
