Abstract: The condensation of aroylpyruvic acids with o-aminobenzyl alcohol gave (Z)-2-(2-aryl-2-oxo-ethylidene)-1,5-dihydro-4,1-benzoxazepin-3(2H)-ones which reacted with oxalyl chloride to afford 3-aroylpyr-rolo-[1,2-a][4,1]benzoxazepine-1,2,4(6H)-triones.
