Description:
L-Alanine (C3 H7 NO2) is a crystalline, free-form non-essential amino acid. The liver can convert L-alanine into glucose which can be used as an energy source for muscle; when glycogen stores are low, it can convert the glucose into glycogen. Glycogen is a storage form of glucose. L-Alanine is highly concentrated in muscle tissue.
During strenuous exercise L-Alanine is released into into blood and enters the liver where it is converted to pyruvate which in turn is converted to glucose for increased energy and endurance. L-Alanine is an excellent addition to your pre-workout energy drink and because it serves as muscular fuel for increasing power, strength and endurance for body builders and performance athletes.

Usage/Benefits
L-alanine is utilized in clinical nutrition as a component for parenteral and enteral nutrition. L-alanine plays a major role in transferring nitrogen from tissue sites to the liver. Alanine is also used by the body to draw upon blood sugar as an energy source; this makes it useful for people who are attempting to reduce body fat levels. Alanine is also known to support prostate health. For this reason, elderly males may benefit from its use. Alanine has been shown to be important for the regulation of insulin.
