Colourless liquid just distilled which turns yellowish and brown in light, on standing and exposed to the air. Freezing point -23°C, boiling point130-131°C and flashing point 33°C. Soluble in alcohol,benzol and ether, but little soluble in water. Smell as chloroform.

It is used for synthesising medicines, perfumes and electronic chemicals and so on.
