Properties: Colorless, hygroscopic crystalline powder, soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in alcohol, specific gravity 1.464, Melting point 884 degrees, exposed to the air and will gradually absorb a molecule of water,dry matter with , high purity and fine particles can be called Glauber's salt powder. Sodium sulfate can be heptahydrate or decahydrate; heptahydrate(Na₂SO₄.7H₂O) is a white orthorhombic crystal , into anhydrous if heated to 24.4 degrees. Its saturated solution will produce Glauber's salt decahydrate precipitation below 32.4 degrees , Anhydrous sodium sulfate if more than 32.4 degrees

Uses: For the manufacture of sodium sulfide, ultramarine, sodium silicate and other chemical products, paper industry, for the manufacture of sulphate pulp, used in place of soda ash in glass industry, dye industry as filler, printing and dyeing industry as dyeing auxiliary, pharmaceutical industry as laxative and antidote for the poisoning of barium salt. In addition, it is also applied in the preparation of synthetic fibers, leather, smelting of non-ferrous metal, enamel, soap, etc. .
