Production methods
Surfactant MES, chemical name is fatty acid methyl sulfonate sodium. The common products include methyl stearate sulfonate, methyl laurate sulfonate, myristic sulfate, methyl palmitate sulfonate. The preparation method of sodium methyl stearate sulfonate is introduced. The preparation of the product consists of three steps: preparation, sulfonation and neutralization of methyl stearate. Lard was put into the reactor and methanol was added. The molar ratio of the two was 1:2. After heating and dissolving under stirring, sulfuric acid of 0.3% of total feed amount was added as catalyst. The transesterification reaction was completed after heated reflux for 6 ~ 7h. Move the material to the distillation column and steam out excess methanol, then steam out glycerin under pressure. The substrate, methyl stearate, was then fed into the sulfonated reactor. Sulfur trioxide was used as sulfonating agent for sulfonation. The molar ratio of sulfur trioxide and methyl stearate is (1.2 ~ 1.25) : 1. The sulfur trioxide is diluted to about 6% to ensure that it is fully absorbed. The reaction temperature was controlled at 70 ~ 90℃. After 4 ~ 6h reaction, 12% sodium hypochlorite was used for bleaching treatment. Finally, it was neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution to pH 8 ~ 8.5.
