Carbenicillin disodium(4800-94-6) is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic which interferes with cell wall synthesis of gram-negative bacteria while displaying low toxicity to plant tissues. Carbenicillin disodium is used as a selective antibiotic for resistant Agrobacterium and E. coli, generally at a concentration of 100 - 500 μg ? ml. It is also called 4-Thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylicacid, 6-[(2-carboxy-2-phenylacetyl)amino]-3,3-dimethyl-7-oxo-, sodium salt(1:2), (2S,5R,6R)-.

2. Basic Information of Carbenicillin disodium

Carboxybenzylpenicillin antibiotic effective against gram-negative bacteria (such as susceptible strains of Pseudomonas species, Proteus species, Escherichia coli, and Haemophilus influenzae) and gram-positive pathogens.
