2-Chloropyridine Usage And Synthesis

Chemical Properties Clear colourless to light yellow liquid
Usage 2-Chloropyridine (2-CPY) has been identified as a trace organic chemical in process streams, wastewater and even drinking water. Furthermore, it appears to be formed as a secondary pollutant during t he decomposition of specific insecticides.
General Description A colorless oily liquid. Toxic by ingestion and/or skin absorption. Used to make other chemicals.
Air & Water Reactions Slightly soluble in water and denser than water.
Fire Hazard Combustible material: may burn but does not ignite readily. When heated, vapors may form explosive mixtures with air: indoors, outdoors and sewers explosion hazards. Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways. Substance may be transported in a molten form.
