Properties

Colorless to light yellow transparent liquid. Melting point<-80℃, boiling point is 289℃. It breaks down at 289℃. Relative density is 0.9729(25/4℃), refractive index is 1.4226. Solubility in water is 0.1%(25℃), solubility of water in the product is 7% (25℃). Soluble in most organic solvents and hydrocarbons, insoluble or slightly soluble in glycerin, hexylene glycol and amine.
Chemical properties:
It has common features of ester, and hydrolyzes under alkaline conditions. Bubbles dry hydrogen chloride through triethyl phosphate at normal temperature can generate 1-Chlorobutane.

Uses

Chemical reagent, high-boiling point solvent, plasticizer for cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate, chlorinated rubber, and PVC, extractant for rare metal, solvent for paint coating, ink and adhesive, defoamer and anti-static agent, intermediate for organic synthesis, medium for heat exchange.
