Column chromatography Carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC), is the most widely used hydrophilic cation exchange separation material, is weakly acidic cation exchange fiber containing a carboxymethyl functional groups. It has high stability, large macromolecular adsorption capacity, fast, easy elution and separation ability, etc.
CMC containing polar groups, - O - CHCOOH, can amino exchange with protein after dissociation.
Properties: white fiber or powder, insoluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone, insoluble in water, acid and dilute alkali.

Before using,using the 0.5 mol/L HCl solution, washed to PH5, then 0.5 mol/L NaOH solution washed to PH9, 20% ~ 80% ethanol washed in turn two to three times, soaking time for 30 minutes each time, it has better effect to use;
And It can be used repeatedly. Its form can be changed according client’s demand.Regeneration methods: 0.5 mol/L HCl solution washed , water washed to PH5, 0.5 mol/L NaOH solution washed, water washed to PH9, 0.5 mol/L HCl solution turn it into hydrogen form, water washing to neutral, washing time is 30 minutes at a time. Or 2 mol/L NaCl washed 60-120 minutes then water washing until without chloride ions turn it into Na form. After Using for a period of time,We should wash CMC according to the above steps again.
Application:Separating and purifying protein, nucleic acid, polysaccharide, enzemy, histocyte and pigment.
