monomethylauristatinE (MMAE; SGD-1010) is a synthetic derivative of sea rabbit toxin 10, which plays an effective role in mitotic inhibition by inhibiting the polymerization of microtube proteins (tubulin). MMAE is widely used as a cytotoxic ingredient to make antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) to treat cancer.
