D-Serine Usage And Synthesis
Description D-serine is the D-form amino acid of the serine, its isomer L-form serine is the component of protein. D-serine is naturally found in the brain, and is a neuromodulator being capable of regulating the activities of neurons. It plays important physiological role in regulating mammalian brain function such as synaptic plasticity and memory. It is also related to the pathophysiology and therapy of several psychiatric and neurological conditions. It can be used for the treatment of cognitive decline, cocaine dependence and schizophrenia. It takes effect through acting as the co-agonist at NDMA receptors, being capable of enhancing the binding of glutamate and NMDA to NDMA receptors.
