Introduction

NuGum Ultra is a selectively mined, specially processed and water-washed  smectite product, with optimal purity, heavy metals and performance. It is a unique acidic smectite rheological agent, making it particularly suitable for topical. It disperses easily and hydrates rapidly, taking no more than 15 minutes in most cases. It is whiter and higher than other clays, which carries over to finished formula.

The specifications and performance of NuGum Ultra are equivalent to those of Veegum Ultra.

Functional Use

Topical products are often formulated at acid pH for optimum epidermal or active ingredient compatibility. NuGum Ultra is tailored for these uses because of its uniquely low pH and its superior stabilizing ability. It provides all the benefits of conventional smectite clay products. It can be used in skin care, treatment, sun care, grooming.

Mixtures of NuGum Ultra with common organic thickeners, such as xanthan gum and cellulosics, produce rheology synergism and are often used to ensure optimum viscosity and stability, particularly at temperature extremes.

All smectite clay products must be properly dispersed in water to achieve their best performance. No other materials should be present in the water because they can interfere with proper hydration and the formation of the colloidal structure. Typical

use levels are between 0.5% and 2%.
