Properties: White crystal or powder, odorless and tasteless, specific gravity(hexagonal crystal): 3.08, specific gravity(cubical crystal): 2.665(17°C), slight acidity, hygroscopic; slight soluble in water and soluble in hydrochloric acid, the solubility slightly improves with the rise of temperature; insoluble in alcohol, hydrolyze to potassium fluoride, hydrogen fluoride and silicic acid in heat water, decompose to potassium fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride when ignition.
Use:
It is used as antiseptic in wood industry, as flux in refining of magnesium and aluminum in metallurgy industry, to produce potassium glass, optical glass and opaque glass in glass industry, to produce insecticide in pesticide industry, to produce intermediate in organic industry, as analytic reagent in analytic chemical, to produce anticorrosive material in chemical production, to synthesize mica, etc.
