Its mechanism of action is structurally similar to aminobenzoic acid (PABA), can be competitive effect on bacteria and PABA dihydrofolate synthetase, preventing PABA folic acid as raw materials needed for the bacteria, reduce the amount of folic acid which metabolic activity, while the latter is the bacteria and the synthesis of purines and thymine nucleotides deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) required material, thus inhibiting the growth of bacteria.
