Gonadorelin Introduction 

Gonadorelin is a medicine that is the same as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GHRH) that is

naturally released from the hypothalamus gland. GHRH causes the pituitary gland to release

other hormones (luteinizing hormone (IH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). IH and FSH

control development in children and fertility in adults.

Gonadorelin is responsible for the release of follicle stimulating hormone and leutinizing hormone

from the anterior pitutitary. GHRH stimulates synthesis and release of FSH and IH in pituitary, this

process controlled by the frequency and amplitude of GHRH pulses, as well as the feedback of

androgens and estrogens.

The pulsatility of GHRH secretion has been seen in all vertebrates, and it is necessary to ensure a

correct reproductive function. Thus a single hormone, GHRH controls a complex process of follicular

growth, ovulation, and corpus luteum maintenance in the female, and spermatogenesis in the male.
