1)Pineapple extract's main content is Bromelain, contains anti-inflammatory enzymes that have the proven ability to suppress the inflammation and pain of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, sports injuries, and other joint inflammatory conditions. Pineapple extract has been shown to inhibit the cyclooxygenase enzyme, inhibiting the synthesis of PG-2.

2)Pineapple extract also helps to break down fibrin (fibrinolytic), thereby minimizing local swelling. Pineapple extract may inhibit platelet clotting and is a known for its fibrinolytic properties. Therefore, it may potentiate the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin and coumadin, and should not be recommended in these cases.

Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme isolated from the pineapple stem that breaks down other proteins, such as collagen and muscle fiber. It had wide application in pharmaceutical industries. Bromelain helps to inhibit pro-inflammatory compounds, similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reducing swelling & pain without side effects. It helps in assisting burn debridement (the removal of dead, burned tissue), preventing blood clots, enhancing fat removal from the body, aiding digestion and reducing sinus symptoms, such as congestion. Bromelain is a protein-digesting (proteolytic) enzyme complex found in the fruit and, in higher concentrations, in the stem of the pineapple (Ananas comosus). It is able to hydrolyze or break down a wide variety of protein types in a range of both acid and alkaline environments.

Originally isolated in the late 1800s, bromelain can play a key role in digestion, and perhaps more importantly, its properties have prompted many practitioners to use it as an agent in wound healing and the prevention of illness and irritation decades.
