1617-90-9 Vincamine (+)-cis-Vincamine
Vincamine is a peripheral vasodilator that increases blood flow to the brain. Generic drugs containing vincamine exist in specific regions. Most common drug preparations are in the sustained release forms. Vincamine is a monoterpenoid indole alkaloid found in the leaves of Vinca minor, comprising about 25-65% of the indole alkaloids found in Vinca minor by weight. It can be synthesized from related alkaloids.
Vincamine is often used as a nootropic agent to combat the effects of aging, or in conjunction with other nootropics (such as piracetam) for a variety of purposes.

Vincamine is a vasodilator and anti-ischemic that increases blood flow to the brain. Vincamine is known primarily as a vasodilator and is in general use as a treatment for dementia.
Vincamine is produced through two chemical reactions beginning with the catalytic reduction of tabersonine, an alkaloid extract of Voacanga seeds. The resulting product, vincadiformine is oxidized forming vincamine.
