38821-49-7 Carbidopa (S)-3-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-2-hydrazino-2-methylpropionic Acid
Carbidopa inhibits aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase (DOPA Decarboxylase or DDC),[1] an enzyme important in the biosynthesis of L-tryptophan to serotonin and in the biosynthesis of L-DOPA to Dopamine (DA). DDC exists both outside of (body periphery) and within the confines of the blood–brain barrier.

Captoril is used for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. It is a synthetic non peptide angiotensin which converted to enzyme inhibitor, and it is mainly applied in the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAA system). Angiotensin of inhibiting the RAA system is converted to enzyme (ACE), which can block angiotensin I converted to angiotensin II, it can inhibit aldosterone secretion and reduce the retention of water and sodium. It is used for treating high blood pressure, also used for ineffective treatment of diuretics, digitalis in patients with heart failure.
