tomato Lycopene powder tomato extract powder Lycopene powder
Function
Lycopene is a carotenoid, a natural color pigment that contributes to the deep red color of tomatoes and various other fruits and vegetables. It is only in the last decade that lycopene has become widely recognized as a potential protector against the risk of certain types of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Lycopene is one of 600 known carotenoids found in plants, deposited as elongated, needle-like crystals in mature fruit. Lycopene gets its color and antioxidant properties from its chemical structure, which consists of a long chain of eleven conjugated double bonds.
Lycopene can thoroughly remove vascular waste, regulate plasma cholesterol concentration, protect low-density lipoprotein (LDL) from oxidation, repair and perfect oxidized cells, promote the formation of intercellular glia, and enhance vascular flexibility. Studies on the anti-atherosclerosis effect of lycopene in rabbits have shown that lycopene can effectively reduce the serum levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (ldl-c) in rabbits, and its effect is similar to that of fluvastatin sodium.
Lycopene also reduces skin exposure to radiation or ultraviolet (UV) rays. When UV rays are applied to the skin, lycopene in the skin binds to free radicals produced by UV to protect skin tissues from damage. Lycopene is reduced by 31 to 46 percent compared to unexposed UV skin, with other components remaining almost unchanged. Studies have shown that by normally ingesting food rich in lycopene can fight UV, prevent UV exposure to produce erythema. Lycopene can also quench the free radicals in epidermal cells, and has obvious discoloration effect on aged spots
Lycopene can activate immune cells, protect phagocytes from their own oxidative damage, promote the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, stimulate the function of effector T cells, promote the production of certain interleukins and inhibit the generation of inflammatory mediators.
Application
1. Health products and sports supplements;
2. Cosmetics;
3. Food and drinks
4. During processing and storage, the color, texture and flavor of meat products change due to oxidation.
5. Lycopene has superior physiological function, strong antioxidant, can effectively quench singlet oxygen and scavenging free radicals, inhibit lipid peroxidation. Therefore, adding it to edible oil can alleviate the deterioration of oil
* Different human studies have reported that lycopene's half-loss period can range from 2 to 3 days to 10 to 33 days. The nutritional status of lycopene can be generally determined by serum lycopene concentration. More American adults serum lycopene content between 0.42 ~ 0.47 u mol/L, but in our country and dietary structure, the European and American countries and lycopene intake differences, it is lack of lycopene content in the serum of residents in our country the system basic data, have been reported for a community of Shanghai 30 ~ 69 adults, a 92 - year - old serum samples were determined, lycopene content of an average of about 0.32 mu g/ml (about 0.59 mu mol/L)
