Superiority:

Lincomycin HCl is a lincosamide antibiotic targeting gram positive and anaerobic bacteria as well as protozoans. It is commonly used to combat  Staphylococcus  and Streptococcus  bacteria.   Lincomycin HCl is freely soluble in aqueous solution.

Lincosamide antibiotics exhibit a mechanism similar to macrolide antibiotics. They work by binding the 50s ribosomal subunit and preventing peptide bond formation and translocation, essentially inhibiting protein synthesis. Resistance to lincomycin is conferred through mutations in the 50s ribosome.

Antibiotics are often used in clinical in vitro tests known as antimicrobial susceptibility tests or ASTs to determine their efficacy against certain bacterial species. They are tested against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria using panels, discs, and MIC strips by medical microbiologists. ASTs decrease the risk of using an antibiotic against bacteria exhibiting resistance to it, and the results are used in clinical settings to determine which antibiotic(s) to prescribe for various infections.

Lincomycin hydrochloride is a lincosamide antibiotic isolated from the actinomyces  Streptomyces  lincolnensis. A congener compound, clindamycin, is derived from lincomycin to replace the 7-hydroxy group with a chlorine atom with inversion of chirality. Lincomycin has broad activity against anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria with a few exceptions, but less activity against most aerobic Gram-negative bacteria. Lincomycin interacts with the 50s subunit of bacterial ribosomes, and then it inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. Bacterial resistance to clindamycin and lincomycin may be caused by methylation of bacterial 23S ribosomal RNA.

Details:

Lincomycin Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt form of lincomycin, a lincosamide antibiotic originally identified in actinomycete Streptomyces lincolnensis with activity against gram-positive cocci and anaerobic bacteria.
