Citicoline (CDP Choline) is a precursor of phosphatidylcholine. As a type of phospholipid, phosphatidylcholine is an important component of cell membranes. Uridine and choline cross the blood-brain barrier,become incorporated into brain membrane phospholipids and increase the production of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, including the synthesis of acetylcholine, noradrenaline and dopamine.
