Tetracycline hydrochloride is a salt prepared from tetracycline taking advantage of the basic dimethylamino group which protonates and readily forms the salt in hydrochloric acid solutions. The hydrochloride is the preferred formulation for pharmaceutical applications. Tetracycline hydrochloride has broad spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoan activity and acts by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosomal sub-unit,s blocking protein synthesis.

Function

1.This product has a certain antibacterial effect on some anaerobes, but it is far inferior to metronidazole, clindamycin and chloramphenicol, so it is not used clinically. The action mechanism of this product is that the drug can specifically bind to the A location of the ribosomal 30S subunit, and prevent the binding of aminoyl tRNA on this site, thereby inhibiting the growth of peptide linkage and affecting the protein synthesis of bacteria.
