Applications 

Artemisinin is used as an antimalarial drug. Clinical application has proved that artemisinin and its derivatives have special effects on malaria and falciparum malaria, especially Artemtherin, which is more effective than other artemisinin drugs in killing and reducing plasmodium parasites in cells.  It has the advantages of high efficiency, quick effect, low toxicity and no cross resistance with chloroquine. It can not only be used for treatment, but also for emergency treatment.  Applicable to all kinds of malaria, such as falciparum malaria, vivax malaria, chloroquine malaria and brain malaria.  Including the dangerous type.  The most notable are dihydroartemisinin and its tablets.  The drug is 10 times more effective against malaria than artemisinin, with a recurrence rate of only 1.95 percent.  Therefore, it was rated as one of the top ten scientific and technological achievements of Chinese Chemicalbook in 1992.  Artemisinin and its derivatives are not only an excellent antimalarial drug, but also a potentially attractive prospect in the treatment of other diseases.  Animal experiments showed that artemisinin could kill 100% of clonorchis sinensis in mice.  Treatment of animal schistosoma, insect eradication rate of 33.8-99.3%.  The total effective rate of artemisinin in the treatment of discoid lupus erythematosus was 90%.  In the treatment of dengue fever, the curative effect is significantly better than the western drugs such as morpholine guanidine.  Immunologists have also found that artemisinin can significantly improve the lymphocyte conversion rate and enhance the immune function of antibodies.  No toxic effect on heart, liver and kidney was found.  There were no obvious clinical side effects.
