DL-Mandelic Acid is an aromatic alpha hydroxy acid with the molecular formula C8H8O3.
It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents. It is a useful precursor to various drugs.

Since the molecule is chiral, it exists in either of two enantiomers as well as the racemic mixture, known as paramandelic acid.

Mandelic Acid is a colorless chemical, flake or powder solid, light color, slight odor. Soluble in hot water, ethyl ether and isopropyl alcohol. In the pharmaceutical industry can be used for intermediate methyl benzoylformate, cefamandole, vasodilator Cyclandelate, eyedrops Hydrobenzole, cylert etc, also can be used as a preservative.
