           Doramectin is a biosynthetic avermectin derived from a mutant of the original Streptomyces avermitilis strain supplemented with a cyclohexylcaboxylic acid starting unit. Doramectin was developed as an anthelmintic for internal parasite control. The presence of the cyclohexyl group replacing the sec-butyl moiety affords greater hydrophobicity and longer biological half-life compared to avermectin. like the other milbemycin/avermectins, it selectively binds to parasite glutamate-gated chloride ion channels and disrupts neurotransmission leading to paralysis and death of the parasite.

1.Doramectin is a veterinary drug for the treatment of parasites such as gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, eyeworms, grubs, sucking lice and mange mites in cattle. 
2. Doramectin is used for the treatment and control of internal parasitosis (gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes), ticks and mange (and other ectoparasites). Doramectin is a derivative of ivermectin. 
3. Its spectrum includes: Haemonchus, Ostertagia, Trichostrongylus,Cooperia, and Oesophagostomum species and Dictyocaulus viviparus, Dermatobia hominis, Boophilus microplus, and Psoroptes bovis,among many other internal and external parasites.
