Triptorelin is a synthetic decapeptide agonist analog of luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH). Possessing greater

potency than endogenous LHRH, triptorelin reversibly represses gonadotropin secretion. After chronic, continuous

administration, this agent effects sustained decreases in LH and FSH production and testicular and ovarian

steroidogenesis. Serum testosterone concentrations may fall to levels typically observed in surgically castrated men.
Triptorelin is a form of therapy called an LHRH (luteinizing releasing) agonist. Triptorelin slows down the growth of

prostate cancer cells by blocking a message from the brain telling the testicles to produce.

Triptorelin, a decapeptide,is a gonadotropin-releasing agonist (GnRH agonist) used as the acetate or pamoate salts.

By causing constant stimulation of the pituitary, it decreases pituitary secretion of gonadotropins luteinizing and follicle

stimulating . Like other GnRH agonists, triptorelin may be used in the treatment of responsive cancers.

Triptorelin is a synthetic agonist analog of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). Animal studies comparing triptorelin

to native GnRH found that triptorelin had 13 fold higher releasing activity for luteinizing hormone, and 21-fold higher

releasing activity for follicle-stimulating hormone. 

Triptorelin may be used in the treatment of hormone-responsive cancers such as prostate cancer or breast cancer,

precocious puberty, estrogen-dependent conditions (such as endometriosis or uterine fibroids), and in assisted

reproduction. It is also used as therapy for gender identity disorder.
