R-(+)Lipoic Acid has been called the mitochondrial antioxidant because it is a key component of mitochondrial

dehydrogenase complexes, which may help slow the natural aging process in animals. R-lipoic acid may be more

effective than other forms of lipoic acid in increasing or maintaining levels of other antioxidants that may decline with

age, including CoQ10, vitamins C and E, and glutathione, according to animal research.

Lipoic acid is an endogenous antioxidant, which can remove free radicals, promote the synthesis of vitamin C from

glucose, promote the synthesis of glutathione, and effectively remove melanin. it can also assist coenzymes in

physiological metabolism that is beneficial to the immunity of the body. Lipoic acid also has anti-inflammatory effect,

can inhibit the activity of kinase, transforming factor, tumor necrosis factor and collagenase, and has anti-aging effect.

amount of R-type lipoic acid can enter cells and mitochondria through the cell membrane and mitochondrial membrane

and be reduced to dihydrolipoic acid, while only a small amount of S-type lipoic acid into cells is reduced. Dihydrolipoic

acid has stronger antioxidant capacity than lipoic acid. The regeneration of endogenous antioxidants and the repair of

oxidative damage can only be achieved in the form of dihydrolipoic acid.
