Mycophenolatemofetil is an active immunosuppressant of mycopheric acid (MPA) pre-ester. The latter showed non-competitive, selective and reversible inhibition of type I/II hypoglycer acid dehydrogenase, with IC50 being 39nM and 27nM, respectively. In addition, MPA will also produce concentration dependence inhibition on ConA-stimulated T-cell proliferation, LPS-stimulated B-cell proliferation and the proliferation of the same antigen-specific T-cells, IC50 is 100nM, 120nM, and 51nM, respectively. Mycophenolatemofetil induces strong small glial cell culture apoptosis at a high concentration of 10 μg/mL and increases the number of activated caspase-3 immune reactive apoptosis cells. In addition, Mycophenolatemofetil (1 sg/mL) strongly inhibits the proliferation of small glial cells and astrocytes. A recent study showed that mycophenolatemofetil time dependence significantly reduced the degree of neuronal cell death in organ-type hippocular slice cultures after neuronal damage.
