Candesartan cilexetil takes effects through selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, further blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II.
